Introduction

Our client is a leading iron ore producer known for their excellence and innovation in mining. They are a key player in the iron ore industry, driving efficiency and delivering high-quality results. We are currently recruiting for Blast Crew Members to support safe and efficient drilling and blasting operations across multiple sites in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

About this role

  • Safely spotting trucks in and out of blast rows.
  • Loading blast holes with explosive product to the required stem height (typically ~200 holes per day).
  • Performing stemming operations, ensuring correct material placement and accurate fill levels.
  • Priming and tying-in blast holes, securing pegs, and verifying tie-up configurations.
  • Operating as Blast Guard, maintaining exclusion zones, and ensuring compliance with all blast safety procedures.
  • Assisting in marking, pegging, and measuring blast patterns in accordance with design plans.
  • Conducting pre- and post-blast inspections and reporting any irregularities to the Shotfirer or Supervisor.
  • Supporting ANFO and emulsion loading activities, hose management, and equipment checks.
  • Maintaining blast magazines, ensuring all explosives and accessories are stored, handled, and recorded per regulatory standards.

Is this you?

  • Current full manual driver's licence (essential).
  • National Police Clearance (valid within 6 months) or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks in a hot, outdoor environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
  • Previous experience in Drill & Blast operations within mining (preferred but not essential).
  • Blast Crew, MPU, or Shotfirer Assistant experience highly regarded.
  • Dangerous Goods Security Card (DGSC) or willingness to obtain.
  • Exposure to iron ore or hard rock mining environments.
