Functieomschrijving

The Supportability Engineering department consists of 60 domain experts and is part of our Service business segment. We are responsible for the definition, development, implementation, and training of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) for our high-tech systems.

Our department includes the following disciplines:

  • Logistics & Maintenance Engineering
  • Customer Documentation
  • Customer Training
  • Obsolescence Management
  • ILS Management

The Customer Documentation Team-currently 15 technical authors strong-is responsible for all customer-facing technical documentation. Today's technical writing is no longer just about manuals and static documents. It's a dynamic, modern profession that uses the latest technologies-such as interactive platforms and Virtual Reality (VR)-to make complex systems easy to understand. As a technical author, you're at the forefront of innovation, turning advanced engineering into smart, digital content that truly makes an impact.

As a Technical Author, you will develop clear, consistent, and concise technical documentation such as:

  • Operator Manuals
  • Maintenance Manuals
  • System Manuals

You will:

  • Collect and analyze technical information from across the organization
  • Research user needs and system specifications
  • Validate documentation using the actual systems
  • Work closely with engineers, testers, and subject-matter experts
  • Lead documentation projects from start to finish

Whether your strength lies in hardware or software, your input will directly contribute to the usability and reliability of our systems.

Vereisten

We are looking for multiple profiles with strong technical and communication skills. Depending on your background, you may focus more on hardware (mechanical/electrical) or software (IT), or a combination of both.

You have:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Technical Author (or similar role)
  • A strong affinity with high-tech systems and a user-centered approach
  • Structured, analytical, and detail-focused mindset
  • Works independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Proactive, well-organized, and able to maintain oversight under pressure
  • Excellent written and spoken English (Dutch is a bonus)

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • Simplified Technical English (STE)
  • ASD S1000D (v3.0 or v4.1), Data Modules (DMs)
  • Agile software development environments
  • Structured data (XML), CSDB or CMS systems
  • Writing for both hardware and software documentation
