Introduction

The Senior Drilling Engineer is a key technical role responsible for bridging the Drilling and Subsurface teams to ensure the successful planning and execution of drilling, completion, and well flowback activities across exploration, appraisal, and development wells.

About this role

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of drilling, completion, and well construction activities in compliance with company, regulatory, and industry standards.
  • Ensure seamless integration between Drilling, Subsurface, Project, Operations, and Well Services teams to achieve overall well objectives.
  • Promote a strong HSSE culture by ensuring compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Develop drilling schedules, manage interfaces, and provide technical recommendations to support project decision-making.
  • Identify operational risks, conduct risk assessments, and support Management of Change (MoC) processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, safety, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Support feasibility studies, conceptual design, execution planning, and well delivery strategies.
  • Monitor project progress, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure delivery within approved milestones and budgets.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and service providers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Participate in HAZID/HAZOP, DWOP/CWOP/TWOP, SIMOPS, pre-job planning, and well handover activities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and implementation of the company's Well Delivery Process and Drilling Engineering Standards throughout the well lifecycle.

Is this you?

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of relevant oil & gas industry experience.
  • Minimum 10 years in offshore/deepwater drilling engineering, drilling operations, and subsea well delivery.
  • Previous offshore supervisory experience is essential.

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in deepwater well design, subsea systems, and drilling technologies.
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary drilling projects.
  • Experience managing drilling contractors, service companies, and vendors.

  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
