Introduction

We are seeking experienced Process Technicians with smelter or foundry experience to join a high-performing operations team supporting the new Green Iron Plant in the Pilbara. This is a 6-month contract role offered on a FIFO basis, operating on an 8/6, 7/7 roster from Perth, Karratha, Fitzroy Crossing or Kununurra.

About this role

The Process Technician- CCGIP is a front line, field and control room capable operator accountable for the safe, stable and efficient running of processing and foundry circuits across Beneficiation, Agglomeration, DRI Reduction, Smelter (EAF) and Granulation. Reporting to the Processing Supervisor: The role executes approved procedures, conducts routine inspections and sampling, manages start up/shutdowns, coordinates isolations and permits, and responds to upsets to meet daily production, quality, safety and environmental targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor processing and foundry circuits across Beneficiation, Agglomeration, DRI Reduction, Smelter (EAF), and Granulation
  • Execute approved procedures and Standard Work Instructions to ensure safe, stable, and efficient plant operation
  • Conduct routine inspections, sampling, and process checks, and continuously monitor equipment for faults
  • Manage start-ups, shutdowns, and upset conditions, ensuring production, quality, safety, and environmental targets are met
  • Coordinate isolations, permits, JHAs, and Take Five risk assessments to minimise hazards.
  • Operate mobile plant and material handling equipment, including FEL, telehandler, forklift, and overhead crane
  • Support commissioning activities and assist maintenance during shutdowns or unplanned stoppages
  • Identify safety and process improvement opportunities and contribute to updates of procedures
  • Maintain accurate shift handovers, daily logs, and reports, ensuring clear communication across teams
  • Work effectively in a small team environment, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills

Is this you?

  • Certificate III in Process Plant Operations (not essential with relevant experience)
  • Relevant foundry or smelter processing experience essential
  • High-Risk Work Licences: Forklift, Bridge & Gantry Crane (CB), C2, C6, EWP
  • Australian Driver's Licence - Manual
  • Front End Loader and Skid Steer certificates
  • Confined Space, Working at Heights, Gas Testing certificates (current or ability to refresh)
  • White Card
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a pre employment medical and provide a National Police Clearance within 12 months or apply for one)
  • Strong safety focus in high-risk industrial environments
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
