Introduction
Join a leading mining owner-operator and play a key role in delivering major studies and projects across a diverse portfolio of operational assets. Working within a client-side engineering team, you'll support the design, development and execution of mechanical solutions across materials handling, process plant and infrastructure projects, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle from concept and feasibility through to delivery.
About this role
- Support the delivery of major mining studies and projects across a portfolio of operating assets.
- Contribute to project phases including scoping studies, prefeasibility, feasibility and execution.
- Develop and review mechanical engineering designs in accordance with relevant codes, standards and project requirements.
- Prepare mechanical calculations, equipment selections, datasheets and technical documentation.
- Support the development of equipment lists, piping schedules, utility consumption lists, lubrication schedules and bills of materials.
- Review engineering deliverables including layouts, general arrangements, design drawings and 3D models.
- Assist with the specification, procurement and delivery of mechanical equipment packages.
- Prepare technical requisitions and contribute to vendor evaluations and equipment selection activities.
- Review vendor documentation and provide technical support throughout the procurement process.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, safety reviews, cost estimates and schedule reviews.
- Support multidisciplinary project teams to deliver fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
- Provide technical input during construction, commissioning and project handover activities where required.
- Build strong relationships with operational, maintenance, projects and engineering stakeholders.
- Support brownfield and sustaining capital projects aimed at improving safety, performance and reliability.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed in line with company standards, governance requirements and industry best practice.
Is this you?
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2-5 years' experience within mining, resources or heavy industry.
- Experience supporting studies, sustaining capital projects and project delivery.
- Exposure to materials handling systems, conveyors and transfer chutes highly regarded.
- Knowledge of process plant, pumping and piping systems desirable.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering standards.
- Experience working within an owner-operator, EPCM or consulting environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Proactive, collaborative and motivated to develop within a leading mining organisation
