About this role

  • Checks the scope of the Materials & Welding engineering are fully implemented and control deliverables in terms of quality, schedule & HSE as per Projects requirements;
  • Responsible for guidance & review, checking of the EPCI deliverables such as Data sheets, Material specifications, technical specifications, technical Bid evaluation, Requisitions, responsible for the Vendor document review; Interacts with contractors/vendors and other engineering disciplines as required;
  • Establishes a full understanding of the challenges of Materials & Welding and follow-u. Gives advice and recommends the Material selection and welding procedures/qualifications;
  • Advises as required with company’s shareholders Technical Authorities (TA) and committees, checks material acquisition including requisitioning, fabrication, testing and transportation of the piping and valves materials;
  • Coordinates any management of change process (MOC) relating to the Materials &Welding discipline;
  • Advises Head of Pipelines Engineering in checking the contractor’s progress on delivery of the required documents;
  • Close coordination with relevant disciplines to ensure understanding and implementation of the material & welding comments;
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts and ensures endorsement of technical deviations to Company specifications as required;
  • Maintains compliance with management of change procedures for changes in the contractor’s design or deviations from the company directives.

Is this you?

  • 10 years of relevant experience as Material & Welding Specialist in the offshore oil and gas major capital projects environment;
  • Detailed Knowledge in the International Codes and Standards and Good Engineering Practices applicable to the O&G Offshore facilities;
  • Significant experience in working with FEED/EPC Contractors and interfacing with equipment suppliers;
  • Competent and sound knowledge for Materials & Welding and WPS/PQRs;
  • Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds;
  • Extensive experience with design and installation of TMCP pipelines, large diameter CRA 826 and 625 fabrication and installation and with material testing and sour service ECA.
  • Extensive experience with shallow water pipelines;
  • Experience working in Qatar or for Company projects is highly desired;
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Metallurgical or Welding Engineering. (Advanced degree is desirable.)
