Serves as project's subject matter expert in those design and construction activities related to vessel machinery, equipment and systems, including engines; steering gear; boilers; distributed fluid systems and their associated components (fuel oil, lube oil, hydraulic oil, compressed air, nitrogen, steam and condensate, fire water, cooling water, distilled water, black / grey water, etc.); mooring systems; and auxiliary and hotel machinery
About this role
Supervises all design, procurement, factory testing, installation & alignment, commissioning, and testing activities related to vessel machinery, equipment, and systems
Reviews and approves the design, drawings and analysis work to ensure design and construction activities of Shipyards/Owners are in compliance with specification requirements, good engineering practice and Rules, Regulations & standards
Ensure drawing review and approval are done within the contractual time and document any changes to vessel drawings upon completion of modifications by following PMOC process
Review Ship Builder's project plans and work specification for each individual vessel and provide technical support to procurement and construction activities
Develop and monitor project metrics, manage the collection of project data and provide regular reports to project management
Supports project management with preparation and implementation of Project Execution Plan (PEP) and other requirements
Attend Technical and Construction Progress Meetings with Shipyard/Owner
Promptly report to the Management any irregularities or concerns related to Safety, Quality or any other areas which may impact the project execution or compromise compliance with Company Standards and Policies.
Is this you?
Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or adjacent field
STCW license (active or expired) as Chief Engineer, Second Engineer, or Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch
Minimum 15 years' experience in related field and project planning & coordination of activities within the Oil & Gas and Marine Construction Industry, including minimum 3 years' experience in the design of LNG carriers and minimum 3 years' experience either (a) on a shipyard site team as either an owner's or charterer's representative, or (b) as an employee in the design department or commissioning department of a shipyard
Minimum 3 years' experience sailing aboard oceangoing vessels in the Engine Department, in either a licensed or unlicensed role
Experience as an owner's or charterer's representative in any of the (4) Shipyards, or as an employee in the design department of any of the (4) Shipyards
Experience sailing on LNG carriers
A thorough knowledge of applicable regulations, Class Rules, and industry codes and standards as relates to this field of expertise
Familiar with Piping, Structural, Electrical & Automation, standards, design and conversions
Familiarity with Shipping related documents
Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and PC Skills, proficient in design software
