Introduction
Responsible for overseeing utilities area rotating equipment engineering activities in NFS Onshore Project, ensuring all technical requirements such as project specifications, data sheets, etc. are in full compliance with project requirements, standardized processes, and are delivered to the highest technical quality standards;
Perform a cold eye review of the NFS FEED rotating equipment deliverables and technical information/clarifications provided by the bidders during the ITT phase;
During the EPC phase, provide clear guidance to the EPC contractor, sub-contractors and vendors and facilitate resolution of rotating equipment technical issues to complete rotating equipment engineering activities to meet project objectives and milestones;
During start-up and early operations phases, until the performance tests completion, provide ad hoc field engineering assistance;
This position is responsible to ensure all technical activities associated with the utilities rotating equipment engineering discipline by the EPC contractor, and all third parties such as vendors, consultants, sub-contractors, etc., are executed to NFS Project’s specifications and requirements;
This will involve technical evaluations, including risk-based evaluation of complex engineering issues, resolution of rotating equipment related matters with significant project execution and/or commercial impact to ensure optimum outcomes to meet technical and execution expectations;
Major challenges for this role include (1) effectively managing EPC contract and rotating equipment engineering team to produce timely deliverables up to Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC), (2) maintaining constructive working relationship with EPC contractor to ensure delivery of engineering work scope in accordance with project requirements, (3) maintaining proper relationship with key stakeholders (e.g. Operations), and (4) to ensure high quality of rotating equipment engineering deliverables;
Expertise about Frame 6 (or equivalent) gas turbines and steam turbines;
Delivering a very large scope of work to achieve project expectations;
Required to contribute to other multi-disciplinary tasks whilst providing expertise in rotating equipment specialized/discipline area.
About this role
Accountable for ensuring execution of work is technically aligned and in compliance with COMPANY Operations, Policies, Standards of Business Conduct and COMPANY Project Management System;
Perform a cold eyes review of key rotating equipment FEED deliverables and technical information/clarifications provided by the bidders during the ITT phase;
Leads rotating equipment engineering design and planning activities and ensures EPC contractor develops detailed design in accordance with local regulatory requirements, industry standards, project specifications and any approved variations;
Resolve rotating equipment discipline issues to ensure engineering design addresses NFS Project’s expectations and objectives. Communicate and elevate issues before they escalate to Project Management when necessary;
Review technical aspects of rotating equipment purchase orders with EPC Contractor and vendors in accordance with the roles and responsibilities stated in applicable contract(s) to ensure safe and seamless integration of new rotating equipment into the existing operating facilities (when applicable);
Assess discipline plans and work schedules to ensure effective completion of project activities and provide data (narrative, charts, graphs), change management recommendations and recovery plans to address any schedule delays;
Monitor and provide guidance to EPC Contractor to ensure key discipline deliverables, progress/milestones are met. Recommend additional technical support where necessary to address gaps;
Coordinate and analyse discipline issues for resolution. Provide Rotating equipment Engineering input to other engineering disciplines, construction, procurement etc as necessary. Support commissioning, start-up and system completing activities and make appropriate recommendations to management on Rotating equipment matters;
Plan and schedule Rotating equipment Engineering deliverables to enable efficient execution in meeting project milestones/schedule;
Leads Rotating equipment discipline interface coordination with third parties, as required, during the NFS EPC phases;
Contribute to Safety analysis studies and provide the required input to support project management in key decisions making. Participate in sharing lessons learned, together with capturing current lessons learned to benefit future projects.
Is this you?
Bachelor Degree in Rotating equipment Engineering or equivalent;
10 years’ experience of Rotating equipment Engineering, preferably in a major LNG Project. Broad knowledge of engineering execution including international codes and standards, utility systems design, construction and operations;
High awareness of safe working practices associated with the design, construction, pre-commissioning, installation and commissioning activities;
Previous lead rotating equipment position part of PMT or world class EPC contractor;
Requires demonstrated broad Rotating equipment and systems experience (including Frame 6 gas turbines (or equivalent), Centrifugal and integrally geared compressors and Steam turbines);
Excellent written and oral English skills;
Strong technical skills;
Good organizational, planning and coordination skills;
Good communication, influencing and interface skills;
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, etc.
