Introduction

Our client is a growing Australian energy services and equipment business supplying drilling, well control, pressure control and production equipment to the oil and gas, mining and industrial sectors across Australia and New Zealand.

With continued growth across the business, they are now seeking a commercially minded Finance Manager to join the leadership team and play a key role in supporting financial performance, operational improvement and long-term growth.

This is an opportunity to join a privately owned business where you will work closely with senior leadership, have genuine visibility across the organisation and make a meaningful impact.

About this role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the business while supporting strategic decision-making, reporting, compliance and process improvement.

This is a broad and hands-on role, suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment. You will take ownership of day-to-day finance activities while also providing commercial insight across cashflow, working capital, budgeting, reporting, systems and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage financial reporting and month-end processes
  • Oversee cashflow forecasting and working capital management
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Provide payroll oversight and support compliance requirements
  • Prepare and manage BAS, IAS, payroll tax and statutory reporting requirements
  • Liaise with external accountants, banks and professional advisors
  • Support inventory, equipment and operational reporting
  • Improve business processes, internal controls and financial governance
  • Provide commercial support to the Managing Director and leadership team
  • Support strategic growth initiatives and business improvement projects
  • Assist with audit preparation and broader financial compliance

Is this you?

You will be a proactive, commercially minded finance professional who enjoys being close to the operations of a business. You will be comfortable working autonomously, while partnering closely with senior leadership and operational teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established Finance Manager, or a senior accounting professional from a financial or management accounting background who is ready to step into a broader commercial leadership role.

This role will suit someone who is hands-on, highly organised and confident operating in a growing business where priorities can move quickly. You will bring strong attention to detail, sound financial judgement and the ability to communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Senior Accountant, Financial Accountant, Management Accountant, Financial Controller or similar role
  • Strong financial reporting and management accounting capability
  • Experience managing cashflow, working capital, budgeting and forecasting
  • Exposure to operational, industrial, logistics, mining, construction, manufacturing, equipment or oil and gas environments would be highly regarded
  • Strong Excel and financial systems capability
  • Experience with Business Central / Dynamics 365 would be favourable
  • Ability to support process improvement, internal controls and commercial reporting
  • CPA or CA qualification, or progress towards qualification, would be preferred
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with senior leadership
