Construction Manager

The Construction Manager is responsible for the safe, timely, and cost-effective field execution of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This position serves as the owner's primary field representative, overseeing EPC contractors and major subcontractors throughout construction, commissioning, and project closeout.

• Represent the owner in field construction activities for utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects.
• Oversee EPC contractor execution and ensure compliance with contractual requirements, project specifications, engineering drawings, permits, and schedule milestones.
• Monitor daily construction progress and identify schedule, cost, quality, safety, and contractor performance risks.
• Review contractor schedules and track field progress against project baselines.
• Evaluate schedule recovery plans and support mitigation strategies when delays occur.
• Review Schedule of Values (SOV), percent-complete reporting, payment applications, and change orders.
• Manage contractor performance and serve as the primary field interface with EPC contractors.
• Review RFIs, submittals, change requests, and other construction documentation.
• Ensure construction quality across PV modules and racking, MV/DC cabling, inverters, transformers, BESS equipment, substations, and collector systems.
• Oversee inspection, testing, QA/QC, punch-list, and construction closeout activities.
• Monitor contractor safety performance and promote compliance with project and regulatory safety requirements.
• Participate in safety audits and incident investigations.
• Coordinate commissioning readiness, testing, energization, mechanical completion, substantial completion, and COD activities.
• Support project turnover to Asset Management.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Development, Preconstruction, and other internal stakeholders.
• Support logistics planning for major equipment deliveries and provide field input during constructability and design reviews.
• Provide regular project reporting and escalate contractor performance or execution issues when required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 7-10 years of construction experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS construction required.
• Experience working on owner-side or EPC-led renewable energy projects.
• Experience managing large-scale construction projects, with projects of 100 MW+ preferred.
• Strong knowledge of EPC contract structures and contractor performance management.
• Experience with construction scheduling and project controls; Primavera P6 or equivalent knowledge preferred.
• Familiarity with substations, medium-voltage infrastructure, collector systems, and high-voltage interconnections.
• Understanding of construction safety requirements; OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Solar + BESS and commissioning/energization experience preferred.
• Experience with Procore, Microsoft Office, and project reporting tools.
• ERCOT or similar competitive electricity market experience preferred.
• PMP certification is a plus.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States required.
• Valid driver's license required.

This is a field-intensive position requiring approximately 75-100% travel to utility-scale project sites. Extended site assignments may be required during critical construction periods. Candidates must be comfortable working in active construction environments, outdoors in varying weather conditions, and around heavy equipment while following all required PPE and safety protocols.

Typical projects include utility-scale Solar PV facilities ranging from approximately 100 MW to 500+ MWdc, BESS facilities ranging from approximately 50 MW to 300+ MWac, substations, collector systems, and high-voltage interconnections.
