Introduction

  • The Construction Nightshift Superintendent Insulation & Painting leads the monitoring and oversight of the EPC-2 Insulation and Coatings Contractor team’s field planning, coordination and execution activities on nightshift.
  • Duties include appraising the performance of the Insulation and Coatings Contractor Team in safety, quality, productivity and schedule.
  • Evaluate field change proposals, prepare routine progress reports and update S-curve performance charts with analysis and insight to achieve progress.
  • Ensure that the Insulation and Coatings Contractor Team develops, implements and sustains its Safety and Quality program at site.
  • Assist the EPC-2 Contractor in the coordination of activities between subcontractors and SIMOPS with the operating facilities.
  • The Nightshift Construction Insulation & Coatings Superintendent will be responsible for the execution of a significant scope of job hours on the project.
  • A large backlog of work is being produced and work teams are scattered over a 10 km string of pipelines.
  • This position will cover reporting, review of technical documentation and management of the EPC-2 Insulation Contractor’s execution activities on the project.
  • Act as the owner of the following construction processes for the insulation scope of work: a. Construction planning and coordination with stakeholders b. Construction execution c. Construction completion and handover d. Site management e. Construction readiness f. Construction turnover to Operations.

About this role

  • Responsible for the review of scope technical documentation, including: Job Safety Analysis (JSA), work method statements and regular progress reporting.
  • Provide safety leadership by example to the EPC-2 Contractor and actively participate in the SHES management program that includes daily toolbox talk (TBT), task instruction (TI) and awareness campaigns.
  • Monitor and coordinate site activities of the EPC-2 Contractor and subcontractors in the designated area of responsibility.
  • Monitor compliance to RLIC permit to work requirements (CPW) and daily sanction eCPW in RLIC areas.
  • Act as Operating Authority within the RLIC system. Perform a similar role and function as Host in OPCO areas.
  • As a note, certification training to become a recognized permit to work Host and signature authority is provided for this role.
  • Report on the construction activities, progress, areas of concern and mitigating actions.
  • Participate in construction discipline review meetings. Provide accurate, timely and routine reports to the EPC-2 Nightshift Head.
  • Ensure EPC-2 Prime Contractor insulation construction activities are completed in accordance with Onshore Project procedures, regulations, specifications, standards, and permit to work procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure correction of non-conformance report items and other issues supporting QA/QC compliance.
  • Monitor site material handling, movement, disposal and warehousing procedures associated with pipe insulation and painting works.
  • Work with the Project Team to gauge construction risk and prepare mitigation plans.
  • Work with the Procurement team to monitor changes to vendor fabrication windows and market conditions for labor, equipment and services.
  • Work with SHES organizations to maintain fresh and comprehensive emergency response plans for oversight areas.

Is this you?

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a relevant field
  • Recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science or construction management, and/or prior work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.
  • Strong Knowledge of how to plan and sequence the execution of construction to reduce potential impacts that lead to change orders.
  • Experience in major Construction Projects (including brown-field work) with total capital expenditure >US$1B
  • Recent experience (last 5 years) on Projects and working in Ras Laffan Industrial City
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to review and comment on technical documents
  • Strong teamwork, facilitation, with the ability to communicate and interact at all levels of the organization with a multi-national workforce.
  • Ability to work with diverse cultures to obtain world-class performance.
  • Familiarity with material and field installation requirements for external thermal insulation and thermal acoustic insulation of cold temperature service piping and equipment by means of PIR (Polyisocyanurate foam) insulation.
  • Good interpersonal skills
