Introduction

We are representing an established drilling contractor seeking an experienced, proactive and field-focused safety professional to support DR330 drill rig operations and associated mobile equipment. Working on a 2:2 roster, you will play a key role in promoting safe work practices, supporting frontline crews, maintaining compliance and driving efficient drilling operations in a remote mining environment.

About this role

As Safety Officer, you will work closely with Drillers, Offsiders, Supervisors, client representatives, and site HSE teams to promote a positive safety culture across field-based drilling crews.

You will provide day-to-day safety support, coach frontline teams, assist with risk assessments, conduct site inspections, and ensure compliance with company standards, client procedures, and Western Australian legislative requirements.

  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and field leadership interactions.
  • Support the safe operation of DR330 type drill rigs and associated mobile equipment.

  • Monitor compliance with company, client, and WA statutory safety requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain incident registers, safety statistics, and compliance documentation.
  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training.
  • Coach supervisors and crews in hazard identification, risk control, and critical risk management.
  • Support emergency response planning, drills, and site safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate health monitoring, fitness for work, and wellbeing initiatives where required.
  • Liaise with client HSE teams, site management, and operational supervisors.
  • Support injury management and return-to-work processes where applicable.
  • Drive continuous improvement across drilling and field-based operations.
