What are you going to do 

Brunel Australasia has partnered with one of worlds premier petroleum and petrochemical companies to find a Telecoms Project Engineer.

The Telecoms Engineer is responsible for the development and management of an allocated project portfolio for the our clients Midstream Asset.

The projects will vary in Project Management Framework phase maturity.

The Telecoms Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting and monitoring the pre-DG3 works and delivering post DG-3 through collaborating with key local stakeholders, BOM, Front End Engineering, Project Manager, Engineering and established contractors.

This role is based in Brisbane with expectations of travel to Gladstone throughout contract

More specifically, you will be entrusted to:

  • Provide visible HSSE leadership and ensure project performance.
  • Work closely with Asset and Project stakeholders to ensure that projects remain aligned with key success factors (delivery of scope, cost and schedule compliance).
  • Drive assigned projects to meet milestone targets set in Select, Define, and Execute in line with the baselined schedules, and propose corrective actions in the event of potential schedule overrun.
  • Adhere to client standards and no defect requirements.
  • Strong management of the contractor’s performance along with ensuring efficient execution, quality and value creation/retention is at the forefront.
  • Proactively encourage a close working relationship between the asset, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering Service Providers and brown field construction contractors.
  • Drive competitive scoping, target costing, standard solutions, replication and fit-for-purpose technologies within assigned projects.
  • Provide robust reporting and risk identification to the established governance structure.
  • Lead risk identification and mitigation process and develop Project execution plans accordingly.
  • Manage project scope change effectively.
  • Identify and follow-up on Continuous Improvement initiatives

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Highly experienced technical professional with wide exposure to Project Engineering & Management roles, with prior experience managing a portfolio of projects within energy and resources.
  • Experience in delivery operational technology and telecommunication projects in a brownfield environment.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate and interface with Procurement, Engineering and other disciplines to remove barriers.
  • Experience managing DEFINE, EXECUTE and OPERATE project delivery phases.
  • Strong understanding of document management processes.
  • Experience using work management process for Management of Change (MoC’s).
  • Adequate understanding of the relevant regulations and standards.
  • Experience of identifying project critical success factors; risks and developing mitigating plans.
  • Experience in providing input to Engineering design, HAZID, Constructability and Risk Assessment processes.
