Position Overview

The Mechanical Technician II is responsible for executing maintenance and reliability work on mechanical equipment in an industrial/oil & gas environment. The technician supports mechanical engineers and supervisors in planning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

What are you going to do 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical components and rotating equipment
  • Assist mechanical engineers in planning and testing mechanical systems and machinery
  • Execute work according to approved job plans and procedures
  • Review job packs prior to execution and provide feedback for improvements
  • Identify safety risks associated with each task and ensure hazards are mitigated before work begins
  • Actively participate in all required job safety processes and tools
  • Request required work permits and notify supervision if permits are delayed beyond 30 minutes
  • Record equipment history and maintenance data in systems such as Global Reliability Tool (GRT) and data sheets
  • Support preparation of cost estimates and maintenance proposals as needed
  • Communicate equipment conditions clearly and recommend corrective actions

Essential skills and knowledge

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Relevant mechanical certification or equivalent hands-on industrial experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance practices in oil & gas or heavy industrial environments
  • Ability to clearly communicate field conditions and technical findings
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively without direct authority
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines, high workloads, and changing priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in the following areas are strongly preferred:

  • VRU (Vapor Recovery Unit) compressors
  • Gas lift systems
  • Reciprocating compressors
  • Diesel generators
