What are you going to do 

Our client, a leading international energy company, is seeking an experienced Fabrication Yard Manager (Pretreatment) to oversee module fabrication activities for a major LNG development project based in Qidong, Jiangsu, China.

Reporting to the Project Delivery Director, this position will lead the owner's site team within the fabrication yard, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of module fabrication works. The successful candidate will work closely with the EPC contractor and fabrication yard management while leading a multidisciplinary team of inspectors, engineers, HSE professionals, and pre-commissioning personnel.

  • Champion a strong safety culture by promoting HSSE excellence through visible leadership, regular site engagement, toolbox talks, and field inspections.
  • Lead and manage the owner's site team, providing direction and oversight throughout all fabrication activities.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with the EPC contractor and fabrication yard to facilitate effective problem-solving and project execution.
  • Ensure fabrication activities are executed in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor fabrication progress, identify risks and delays, and work with contractors to implement mitigation and recovery plans when necessary.
  • Ensure all modules achieve Ready for Sail Away (RFSA) with minimal carry-over work and zero defects.
  • Coordinate marine warranty survey requirements and ensure compliance with marine cargo insurance obligations.
  • Verify contractor compliance with quality management systems, inspection and test plans, project procedures, and EPC contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, HSE, procurement, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure inspection, witness, and hold points are completed as required.
  • Oversee pre-commissioning activities including cleaning, flushing, loop checking, degreasing, electrical energization, and related systems completion activities.
  • Provide regular project updates, performance reports, and risk assessments to senior project leadership.
  • Mentor site personnel and promote continuous improvement across construction and fabrication teams.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) excellence.
  • Solid understanding of EPC project execution, contract administration, and fabrication management.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry codes, standards, and construction best practices.
  • Ability to analyze project schedules, monitor progress, and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • This position is based in Qidong, Jiangsu, China.
  • Candidates must be willing to reside locally in the Qidong area for the duration of the project.
  • Due to project HSE requirements and commuting considerations, applicants planning to commute from Shanghai or Nantong are not suitable for this position.
  • The work schedule averages approximately 55 hours per week, following the project site's operational requirements.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of module fabrication experience within the oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, or energy industry.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role within large-scale fabrication yard operations.
  • Previous LNG project experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience representing an Owner's team on major EPC projects is advantageous.
  • Strong experience managing fabrication activities within international module yards, particularly in China.
  • Experience supporting projects destined for the US Gulf Coast is considered an advantage.
