Introduction

We are seeking motivated Auto Electricians to join a high-performing truck workshop supporting a major Pilbara iron ore operation. You will work on heavy mining mobile equipment, including Caterpillar trucks (777, 785, 789, 793) and other heavy fleet. The role offers a 2:2 FIFO roster from Perth, with bus services from Bunbury and Busselton.

What are you going to do 

This role is responsible for carrying out electrical repairs and inspections on truck fleets, as well as performing duties in and around the pit and workshop whilst adhering to safety standards at all times.

You will work on heavy mining mobile equipment including Caterpillar trucks (777, 785, 789, 793) and other heavy fleet, carrying out maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure safe and reliable equipment performance within a strong zero-harm culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe, effective and timely electrical maintenance on all equipment
  • Perform auto electrical scheduled maintenance and breakdown fault finding on a wide range of heavy mobile equipment and light vehicles
  • Carry out diagnostics, fault finding, and repairs on Heavy Mobile Equipment
  • Maintain and repair fleet in line with OEM specifications and company procedures
  • Diagnose and repair auto air conditioning faults
  • Complete service reports and accurately identify parts requirements
  • Liaise with the planning group to ensure the planned maintenance schedule is implemented
  • Record all work accurately in SAP or other maintenance systems
  • Participate in safety and toolbox meetings, contributing to a zero-harm culture
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fleet performance
  • Ensure compliance with all site safety, environmental, and operational standards

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Australian recognised Automotive Electrical Trade Certificate

  • High Risk Work Licence - Forklift, Crane or Dogging
  • CPR /LVR & First Aid certificate
  • HV Switching Certificate
  • Previous experience working on large scale Heavy Mobile Equipment, ideally CAT and Liebherr
  • Air-conditioning experience preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, risk management, and zero-harm culture
  • Proficiency with OEM diagnostic tools and Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Current Australian HR OR C Class Driver's Licence
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Ability to provide national police clearance and complete a pre-employment medical
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and team management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
