Introduction

We're partnering with a leading global mining company to recruit experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters. Work on CAT, Hitachi, LeTourneau, and Komatsu equipment in a FIFO 8/6, 7/7 roster from Perth, Albany, Busselton, and Geraldton. Play a key role in maintaining fleet reliability through planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance, with strong potential for contract extensions and long-term opportunities.

What are you going to do 

As part of the Mobile Maintenance Team, you will play a key role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of heavy mobile equipment across Pilbara operations. You will carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs to ensure equipment availability and support production targets.

This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical skills within a high-performing, safety-focused team, with responsibilities including:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and servicing on heavy mobile equipment including Komatsu 930 haul trucks, LeTourneau 2250 wheel loaders, Hitachi EX3600 and EX5600 excavators, D65 drills, CAT MD autonomous drills, water carts, graders (16M/24M), and D10/D11 dozers
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults across a range of mobile equipment
  • Complete planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance
  • Conduct safety inspections and equipment pre-starts
  • Accurately record maintenance activities using SAP
  • Support shutdown maintenance and ensure equipment is returned to service safely and efficiently
  • Follow site safety standards and contribute to a zero-harm culture
  • Participate in team initiatives focused on continuous improvement and collaboration

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Australian Recognised Trade qualification or Skills Assessment- Heavy Duty Fitter or Diesel Mechanic (Cert III or equivalent)
  • Previous experience maintaining heavy mobile equipment in mining or heavy industry (CAT & Komatsu experience high desirable)
  • Valid WA Manual C-Class Driver's Licence (HR highly desirable)
  • High Risk Work Licences - minimum Forklift (LF)
  • Confined Space and Working at Heights certification
  • Experience using SAP or similar CMMS
  • A strong safety focus and commitment to working within Rio Tinto's safety systems
  • Good problem-solving skills, initiative, and a team-oriented approach
  • Full Australian working rights - Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
