Introduction

We are seeking a motivated Auto Electrician to join a high-performing excavator workshop supporting a major Pilbara iron ore operation. The role offers a 2:2 FIFO roster from Perth, with bus services from Bunbury and Busselton. Work on heavy mining excavators and shovels including CAT 6040, CAT 6060, Liebherr R9400 and CAT 996, carrying out maintenance, diagnostics and repairs to ensure safe, reliable fleet performance within a strong zero-harm culture.

What are you going to do 

As an Auto Electrician based in the excavator workshop, you will play a key role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of our large-scale mining fleet. This role involves troubleshooting, fault finding, and repairing heavy mobile equipment, managing resources to ensure fleet availability, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. You will also help enhance equipment performance and support zero-harm safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics, fault finding, and repairs on Heavy Mobile Equipment

  • Maintain and repair fleet in line with OEM specifications and company procedures
  • Identify and order maintenance consumables and components to ensure continuous fleet operations
  • Accurately record all work in SAP or other maintenance systems
  • Participate in safety and toolbox meetings, contributing to a zero-harm culture
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fleet performance
  • Ensure compliance with all site safety, environmental, and operational standards

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Australian recognised Automotive Electrical Trade Certificate

  • A Grade Western Australian Electrical Licence
  • High Risk Work Licence - Forklift, Crane or Dogging
  • CPR /LVR & First Aid certificate
  • HV Switching Certificate
  • Previous experience working on large scale Heavy Mobile Equipment, ideally CAT and Liebherr
  • Air-conditioning experience preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, risk management, and zero-harm culture
  • Proficiency with OEM diagnostic tools and Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Current Australian HR OR C Class Driver's Licence
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Ability to provide national police clearance and complete a pre-employment medical
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and team management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
