We are seeking an experienced Area Construction Superintendent to oversee fabrication, assembly, testing, and construction activities for offshore buoy and marine loading system equipment at a major fabrication yard in China.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all construction activities are executed safely, on schedule, within quality requirements, and in compliance with project specifications. This position requires strong experience with CALM/SPM buoy systems, offshore mooring equipment, marine infrastructure, and fabrication yard execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily construction activities within the assigned area.
  • Ensure works are executed according to approved drawings, procedures, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate contractor and subcontractor activities to achieve project schedule milestones.
  • Monitor workforce productivity, construction progress, and resource utilization.
  • Review construction work packs, lifting plans, work methods, and risk assessments.
  • Resolve construction-related technical and execution issues in coordination with engineering teams.

Buoy & Mooring Systems

  • Supervise fabrication and assembly of offshore buoy systems and associated marine equipment.
  • Oversee installation and integration of mooring components, piping systems, structural assemblies, and mechanical equipment.
  • Coordinate inspection, testing, preservation, and mechanical completion activities.
  • Support offshore installation readiness and load-out preparation activities.
  • Ensure all buoy-related construction works meet quality and operational requirements.
  • Champion a strong safety culture across all work fronts.
  • Ensure compliance with project HSE procedures, permit-to-work systems, and site safety requirements.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety observations, and site inspections.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Identify and mitigate construction risks proactively.

Quality & Handover

  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure all inspection and test requirements are achieved.
  • Ensure construction dossiers and completion records are maintained.
  • Monitor punch list closure and support system handovers to commissioning teams.
  • Ensure compliance with project quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Provide daily and weekly progress updates.
  • Participate in construction and interface meetings.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, commissioning, and project management teams.
  • Support schedule recovery strategies when required.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of offshore oil & gas, FPSO, marine terminal, or energy infrastructure project experience.
  • Minimum 5 years as Construction Superintendent, Area Superintendent, or Construction Lead.
  • Demonstrated experience with CALM Buoy, SPM Buoy, Mooring Systems, Offshore Loading Facilities, Marine Terminals, or Similar Offshore Infrastructure Projects.
  • Previous experience working in fabrication yards and offshore construction environments.
  • Experience supporting mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of offshore buoy systems and marine loading facilities.
  • Knowledge of structural, mechanical, piping, and marine construction practices.
  • Familiarity with international offshore standards and quality requirements.
  • Experience managing complex lifting and installation activities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
