What are you going to do 

Brunel is recruiting Water Operations Technicians to work in Midland, TX for initially 1 year contract.

This role focuses on monitoring and controlling water treatment plants, salt water disposal systems, and water distribution networks using SCADA systems/operational monitoring tools.

The position requires technical knowledge of water system operations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to respond quickly to alarms, system changes, or emergencies.

The role involves coordinating closely with field personnel, documenting operational activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor water treatment plants, salt water disposal systems, and water distribution networks using SCADA systems
  • Track and evaluate operational indicators including flow rates, pressure levels, and reservoir levels
  • Identify abnormal system behavior and respond to alarms or alerts
  • Operate and adjust pumps, valves, and inlet controls remotely to maintain proper system performance
  • Respond to system alarms quickly and initiate corrective actions
  • Perform remote troubleshooting to resolve operational issues whenever possible
  • Communicate with field operators regarding maintenance needs, operational issues, or emergency responses
  • Dispatch instrumentation and electrical technicians, electrical crews, or field personnel when on-site intervention is required
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs and system adjustments
  • Record operational data, system events, incidents, and maintenance activities in operational logs
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system operations and changes
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational and performance reports
  • Ensure water system operations comply with regulatory standards related to water quality and safety
  • Follow established emergency response procedures during system failures, contamination events, or operational disruptions
  • Support safe operational practices and adherence to company policies
  • Participate in system training programs and technology upgrades
  • Support improvements to system operations and monitoring processes
  • Recommend process improvements to increase operational efficiency, reliability, and system performance

Essential skills and knowledge

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of water treatment processes and water distribution systems
  • Knowledge of salt water disposal systems and plant operations
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems for remote monitoring and system control
  • Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge related to pumps, valves, and instrumentation used in water systems
  • Proficiency with SCADA systems for system monitoring and remote operations
  • Experience using data logging software to track operational performance
  • Ability to interpret system alarms and troubleshoot operational issues remotely
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and operational records
  • Ability to analyze operational system data and identify trends, irregularities, or performance issue
  • Strong troubleshooting skills when responding to alarms or system failures
  • Ability to make quick and effective decisions during emergency situations or system disruptions
  • Clear verbal communication when coordinating with field operators and technical personnel
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting operational changes, incidents, and reports
  • Ability to communicate operational updates and technical issues to multiple teams
