What are you going to do 

  • Lead and provide direction to the Mine Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical, Ventilation, and Survey teams.
  • Ensure operational priorities are aligned with technical service forecasts, budgets, and Life of Mine objectives.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the development and execution of short-, medium-, and long-term underground mine plans aligned to budget.
  • Translate Life of Mine strategy into executable weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual production plans.
  • Review and approve mine designs, development plans, stope designs, production schedules, and extraction strategies.
  • Lead production geology activities, including grade control, ore reconciliation, delineation drilling, and resource model application.
  • Minimize ore loss and dilution through effective geological interpretation, operational controls, and reconciliation processes.
  • Oversee geotechnical programs related to underground ground stability, rock mechanics, stope stability, sequencing, and excavation design.
  • Ensure ground support standards, monitoring programs, ventilation systems, and technical controls are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with mine design standards, engineering specifications, and Ontario mining regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks that may impact safety, production, or mine economics.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Processing teams to support mine performance objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, mine recovery, dilution control, cost reduction, and technical performance.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, forecasts, operational updates, reconciliation results, and technical KPIs to site leadership.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
  • Professional designation as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. in Ontario is required.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of underground mining experience, preferably within underground gold mining operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong background in underground mine planning, geology, geotechnical engineering, ventilation, and operational execution.
  • Extensive experience with mine planning and geology software such as Deswik, Datamine, Leapfrog, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of how short-term operational decisions impact long-term asset value and mine economics.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build high-performing teams, develop technical talent, and promote safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
