Summary Role:

The Senior Specialist for SAP FI Modules is responsible for driving end-to-end finance process design, validation, and implementation across core SAP Financial Accounting modules—General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Asset Accounting (AA). Acting as a strategic bridge between business stakeholders and the system integrator (SI), this role ensures robust, compliant, and scalable SAP solutions aligned with business objectives and global design principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze and document current and future-state business processes across GL, AP, AR, and AA modules.
  2. Collaborate with business process owners, global design custodians, and SI teams to validate solution design and highlight design gaps or optimization areas.
  3. Support definition and refinement of key finance design decisions, including enterprise structure, chart of accounts, and cost object frameworks.
  4. Ensure cross-functional design consistency, particularly with integration touchpoints in MM, SD, and CO modules.
  5. Conduct thorough review of configuration settings across FI modules to ensure alignment with business scenarios and control requirements.
  6. Validate and review functional specifications and support development of custom objects and enhancements.
  7. Provide expert support to data migration team by validating mapping rules, legacy-to-target reconciliation logic, and data readiness.
  8. Drive and support key testing phases – Unit Testing, Integration Testing, and UAT – with clear defect resolution protocols.
  9. Validate and review reporting requirements, including statutory and management reporting.
  10. Conduct knowledge transfer sessions, prepare training content, and deliver user training for business teams.
  11. Ensure post-go-live support, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives across SAP FI modules.

  • Review of Solution Design Documents (SDDs) and Fit-Gap Analysis
  • Review of Configuration and Functional Specification Documents
  • Data Mapping and Validation Reports for Migration Activities
  • UAT Test Scenarios, Test Scripts, and Defect Logs
  • End-User Training Materials and Conducted Sessions
  • Cutover Planning Inputs and Hypercare Support Reports

Essential skills and knowledge

Education & Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Professional SAP certifications in FI module(s) preferred.
  3. 5-7 years of SAP functional experience with strong hands-on exposure to GL, AP, AR, and AA modules.
  4. Proven track record of at least two full-cycle SAP implementations, including design, build, testing, and go-live support.
  5. Deep understanding of financial processes, statutory compliance, and IFRS/local GAAP requirements.
  6. Strong grasp of integration areas (e.g., CO, MM, SD, Treasury, and Asset Management).
  7. Excellent stakeholder engagement, analytical, and communication skills.
  8. Exposure to S/4HANA preferred, including Universal Journal and New Asset Accounting functionalities.
