Introduction

We are currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer / Buyer to support a tier one mining business with the procurement and expediting of goods and services across a key customer group.

Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, this role will be responsible for delivering purchasing support across materials, parts, supplies, equipment and services, ensuring business requirements are met in line with procurement policies, expectations and timelines

What are you going to do 

This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded purchasing professional with strong SAP experience and a background in mining, resources or heavy industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase and expedite materials, parts, supplies, equipment and services in accordance with established purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Optimise price, delivery and commercial terms while ensuring business requirements are met.
  • Identify cost-competitive and reliable suppliers and issue requests for quotation where required.
  • Support RFQ activity by leveraging supplier capability and market competitiveness.
  • Assist with analysis of commercial benefit initiatives across capital projects, sustaining capital, maintenance programs and operational spend.
  • Ensure all goods and services are ordered and received in accordance with specification.
  • Ensure accurate costing of materials and purchasing transactions.
  • Support purchase-to-pay and logistics processes across both goods and services.
  • Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders to ensure purchasing services are delivered effectively and on time.
  • Manage multiple purchasing activities where financial, commercial and operational risk may be present.

Essential skills and knowledge

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a purchasing, buyer or commercial procurement role.
  • Previous experience within mining, resources, construction, heavy industry or a similar operational environment.
  • Sound understanding of materials, inventory management and services buying.
  • Knowledge of commercial and legal terms relating to procurement activities.
  • Strong purchase-to-pay and logistics process experience.
  • SAP experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team-oriented approach with the confidence to engage with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
