Introduction

We are supporting a global engineering and construction organisation that delivers complex offshore energy projects worldwide. With a strong track record in deepwater field developments, subsea infrastructure and SURF projects, the company is expanding its engineering team and is seeking an experienced Principal Riser Engineer to support FEED, detailed design and EPCI project execution from its regional engineering hub.

What are you going to do 

  • Lead conceptual studies, FEED and detailed engineering activities for offshore riser systems.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations, analyses and technical reports.
  • Develop riser design philosophies, design basis documents and technical specifications.
  • Carry out and verify:
    • Fatigue Analysis
    • Strength Analysis
    • Installation Analysis
    • Clashing Analysis
  • Develop and review riser analysis models and engineering deliverables.
  • Perform design verification and interdisciplinary design reviews.
  • Execute riser configuration and component design activities including wall thickness calculations.
  • Provide technical guidance during fabrication, installation and commissioning phases.
  • Review and approve vendor and subcontractor engineering submissions.
  • Support procurement activities through technical bid evaluations and equipment selection.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, audits and offshore site surveys.
  • Ensure engineering activities are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage small to medium-sized riser engineering teams.
  • Plan and coordinate engineering scope, resources, deliverables and schedules.
  • Act as the discipline focal point for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Support bid preparation, manpower planning and engineering estimates.
  • Identify scope changes and support change management activities.
  • Coordinate closely with project management, fabrication, planning and procurement teams.
  • Drive engineering quality and compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Essential skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • 15-20 years of experience in offshore Oil & Gas projects
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Master's Degree is an advantage
  • Strong background in FEED, detailed design and EPCI execution
  • Proven experience in riser engineering, design and analysis
  • Expertise in:
    • Fatigue Analysis
    • Strength Analysis
    • Installation Analysis
    • Clashing Analysis
    • Riser Configuration Design
    • Wall Thickness Design
  • Strong knowledge of API, DNV, ISO and ASME standards
  • Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers
  • Ability to interface directly with clients, certifying authorities and project stakeholders
  • Familiarity with offshore installation, fabrication and subsea project execution

  • Steel Catenary Risers (SCR)
  • Flexible Risers
  • Top Tension Risers (TTR)
  • Dynamic Riser Systems
  • Offshore installation engineering
  • Global project experience within major EPCI contractors, subsea contractors, consultants or offshore operators

This role is ideal for a seasoned Principal Riser Engineer, Lead Riser Engineer or Senior Riser Specialist.

What we offer 

Malaysia-based, 12-month renewable contract, MYR 23,500-35,000 gross.
