What are you going to do 

  • Equipment Maintenance: Check and maintain floor equipment and drill string components regularly for smooth operation.
  • Assist in preparation to run the drill string
  • Examine and maintain of drill floor equipment
  • Assist in tubular tripping operations
  • Prepare and operate pipe handling equipment as necessary for tripping, making connections, well testing and logging
  • Assist in preparation to run and cement casing
  • Assist in nippling up choke and kill lines
  • Maintain a high standard of rig house keeping
  • Recognise the mud mixing system
  • Recognise the operation of the storage area and hopper system
  • Know signals and safe working procedures for operation of man riding and air hoists
  • Know lock-out and tagging procedures for equipment maintenance

Certifications (Training provided for some certificates)
Certificate II in Drilling Oil/Gas RII2110 (on shore) – MANDATORYDrilling and Completions General Induction (DCGI) or Industry Safety Induction (ISI)
Undertake First Response to FireOperate Breathing Apparatus
Apply First Aid (including CPR)Enter and Work in Confined SpacesGas Test Atmospheres
Working at HeightsGotcha Kit
Wellsite Permit to Work – HolderOperate Vehicles in the field – 4WD

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Physical Strength and Stamina: Ability to perform physical labor and work long hours in extreme conditions.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment and follow directions and company policies.
  • Knowledge of Machinery: General knowledge of machinery is considered an asset.
  • Driver’s License: Open, manual Driver’s License.
  • Experience: Preferably current experience as a Floorhand on a Land Rig or as an experienced Leasehand.
