Introduction

Brunel is partnered with a rapidly growing global technology manufacturer specializing in advanced liquid cooling solutions for AI infrastructure, high-performance computing, enterprise servers, and data centres.

What are you going to do

  • Own the complete mechanical technical solution for Technical Cooling System (TCS) infrastructure packages from concept through installation.
  • Translate customer requirements into complete, buildable engineering solutions with clearly defined scope, interfaces, responsibilities, and deliverables.
  • Lead the mechanical system design for piping headers, spool assemblies, valve trains, filtration systems, buffer and expansion tanks, drip trays, leak detection integration, and related mechanical infrastructure.
  • Serve as the principal mechanical design authority on awarded projects while coordinating external engineering resources when specialized expertise is required.
  • Lead detailed mechanical design activities for complex liquid cooling systems.
  • Perform and oversee engineering analyses including piping stress, fluid dynamics, thermal expansion, pressure systems, and mechanical loading.
  • Apply engineering best practices including GD&T, design-for-manufacturing, tolerance analysis, and engineering release processes.
  • Ensure designs satisfy functional, manufacturing, serviceability, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead engineering design reviews, technical decision-making, and design approvals.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to supporting designers and engineers.
  • Develop and oversee complete engineering documentation including:
    • P&IDs
    • 3D CAD models and fabrication drawings
    • Installation and interface drawings
    • Bill of Materials (BOM) inputs
    • As-built documentation
    • Installation readiness packages
  • Identify engineering risks early through DFMEA, Single Point of Failure analysis, and other structured engineering methodologies.
  • Drive corrective actions through failure investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Support prototype development, validation, commissioning, and product improvements.
  • Ensure engineering solutions are safe, reliable, and scalable throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing, production, quality, and service teams during product launches.
  • Support installation and commissioning by defining mounting requirements, structural loading, alignment, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot complex production and field issues through system-level analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Partner with Supply Chain on component selection, supplier support, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Work closely with project management, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and customer-facing teams.
  • Coordinate external engineering consultants and specialized design resources when required.
  • Support multiple concurrent engineering programs while maintaining quality, schedule, and technical excellence.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Current Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience leading industrial mechanical design projects from concept through implementation.
  • Extensive experience designing industrial fluid handling, piping, HVAC, or liquid cooling systems.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and Autodesk Revit BIM.
  • Experience producing fabrication, manufacturing, installation, and engineering documentation.
  • Deep understanding of fluid dynamics, piping systems, pressure systems, thermal expansion, and mechanical design principles.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards including UL, CSA, ASME Piping Codes, seismic standards, and applicable installation codes.
  • Proven ability to lead technical design reviews and mentor engineering teams.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience designing liquid cooling infrastructure for data centres or mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience with facility-side mechanical systems supporting high-performance computing or AI infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, Single Point of Failure analysis, and structured engineering risk assessment methodologies.
