What are you going to do 

We are working with our client, a leader in the Oil and Gas sector, to appoint a Manager - Process Engineering on a contract basis in Chennai, India. This is a pivotal role, driving process engineering for liquid storage terminals, tank farms, marine jetties, pipelines and EPC infrastructure from concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead process engineering activities from concept, FEED and detailed engineering through commissioning.
  • Prepare and review process design basis, PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, line sizing and utility balances.
  • Develop equipment data sheets, process specifications and technical requisitions.
  • Support storage tank, pipeline, pump station, marine jetty and terminal process design.
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA and process safety reviews.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering with Civil, Mechanical, Piping, E&I, QA/QC and Construction teams.
  • Review vendor documents and provide technical support during procurement and bid evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with API, ASME, OISD, NFPA, PESO, IS and environmental regulations.
  • Support commissioning, performance testing, operating procedures, training and project handover.
  • Drive value engineering, troubleshooting, optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Process simulation and hydraulic calculations.
  • Knowledge of API, ASME, OISD, NFPA, PESO and IS standards.
  • PFD, P&ID development, relief systems, pump sizing and terminal operations.
  • Software: AutoCAD, Aspen HYSYS (preferred), AFT Fathom/PIPENET (preferred), SAP, Primavera/MS Project, MS Office.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • BE / B. Tech in Chemical Engineering. ME / M. Tech in Process Engineering preferred. PMP, HAZOP, Functional Safety or equivalent certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience: 10-15 years in Oil & Gas, LNG, Petrochemical, Refinery, Tank Terminal or Pipeline EPC projects with proven experience leading process engineering teams.
  • Experience in brownfield and greenfield liquid terminal infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of petroleum product handling, aviation fuel systems and multidisciplinary EPC execution.
