What are you going to do 

  • Support Civil/Structural Head on civil/structural/building field engineering execution activities to meet project milestones and objectives;
  • Leads Civil/Structural/building field engineering support activities for EPC 1 scope. Provides leadership, coaching and guidance to the EPC contractor and sub-contractors to make them successful in delivering project civil/structural/buildings scope;
  • Applies sound engineering judgement to address technical issues as they arise during construction and commissioning execution;
  • Demonstrates visible safety program leadership;
  • Ensures Contractor and Sub-contractors have adequate plans and work schedules (short term and long term);
  • Maintain design integrity and quality requirements through the management of change, specification deviation, Technical Query and field design change processes;
  • Maintain full project chronology of civil and structural engineering design revisions (including cause / effect data) to ensure change management is clearly documented;
  • Ensures quality and timing of civil/structural/building field execution activities;
  • Works side by side with quality organization to address systematic quality issues for civil/structural/building scope;
  • Engages resources outside the PMT on a timely basis to resolve key engineering issues beyond experience;
  • Conduct site surveys to validate field conditions in relation to queries or validation of completed works, including witnessing of field executed testing;
  • Verify site conditions to facilitate construction works such as suitability of ground conditions for heavy lefts;
  • Support the review of temporary works designs for any critical site construction activities, including design review of Critical Temporary Construction Aids (CTCA);
  • Review of construction method statements for critical construction works including lifting studies (when required).

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in EPC projects, in civil/structural discipline including detailed design and field engineering construction/commissioning phases;
  • Experience in Oil & Gas Facilities, especially LNG facilities and or large utilities systems with large civil/structural/building scope;
  • Knowledge in geotechnical, foundations design, underground installations, drainage, precast concrete, steel structures;
  • Knowledge of key relevant civil engineering and Qatar building codes (QCS2014, ACI, AISC, BS EN, etc);
  • Experience with building design and field execution;
  • Some construction execution experience, and understanding of the interfaces with other disciplines related to work installation and sequencing;
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
