What are you going to do

Senior Business Developer / Project Director

About the Company

Our client is a leading international renewable energy developer and independent power producer with a significant and growing footprint across Australia.

Backed by long-term capital and a strong global platform, the business develops, builds, owns and operates large-scale renewable energy and storage assets. With an established pipeline across wind, solar PV and battery storage, the organisation is entering a critical delivery phase on several flagship projects.

An opportunity now exists for a senior commercial leader to take ownership of late-stage development assets and drive them through financial close and into execution.

Scope

Reporting into the Renewables leadership team, you will take full accountability for leading one or more utility-scale renewable energy projects (initially focused on wind) through late-stage development, financial close and transition toward construction.

This is a senior, commercially focused role requiring strategic leadership across technical, financial, contractual and stakeholder workstreams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading multidisciplinary project teams across development, technical, commercial and finance streams
  • Driving projects to financial close within approved timelines and budgets
  • Coordinating key workstreams including land & approvals, EPC & O&M, commercial structuring and project finance
  • Managing relationships with off-takers, equity partners, lenders and industrial partners
  • Engaging with AEMO, TNSPs and broader NEM stakeholders
  • Leading contract negotiation and procurement processes (EPC, O&M, supply, financing agreements)
  • Ensuring coherence and risk alignment across all project agreements
  • Preparing and presenting investment committee papers and board-level reporting
  • Managing project risk, quality frameworks and governance compliance
  • Ensuring full compliance with planning approvals, EPBC conditions and financing covenants
  • Participating in stage-gate reviews and internal investment decision processes
  • Supporting broader business development initiatives including acquisitions, tenders (e.g. LTESA/CIS), partnerships and strategic growth opportunities

This role sits at the intersection of development, finance and execution, and requires both executive-level oversight and hands-on commercial leadership.

Essential skills and knowledge

About You

  • 15+ years' experience in renewable energy project management and delivery
  • Demonstrated experience leading Australian wind projects through financial close and ideally into construction and operation
  • Strong understanding of Australian energy regulation within the National Electricity Market
  • Deep commercial acumen and detailed understanding of project agreements and contracting structures
  • Experience managing EPC procurement, O&M arrangements and complex financing structures
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong stakeholder management capability across lenders, off-takers, boards, regulators and communities
  • Experience preparing and presenting investment committee and board materials
  • Robust risk management and governance capability
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards

This opportunity will suit a senior renewable energy professional seeking to play a defining leadership role in delivering major Australian wind assets within a globally backed and growing platform.
