Introduction

  • To supervise, conduct and execute various online and offline inspection activities on Plant Static equipment and piping.
  • Coordinate inspection and NDE works with outside parties and analyze the findings to ensure the integrity, reliability, and availability of the plant’s static equipment/piping.

What are you going to do 

  • Conduct and execute various online and offline inspection activities on Plant Static equipment and piping.
  • Supervise and - analyse the outcomes of - various online and offline inspections on fire-heaters, boilers, pipes and vessels in the Plant such as thermography, tube metal temperatures, thickness & corrosion surveys, dye penetration tests, magnetic particle tests, ultrasonic flaw detection, acoustic inspections and radiography interpretation, or simply by visual analysis to ensure integrity of equipment and assist in establishing ground for initial problem.
  • Responsible for the NDE tests performed in the company through inspection section by self and contract manpower. Co-ordinate with outside parties for various inspection related activities especially on the NDE side.
  • Recommend repair and technical solutions for maintaining plant equipment to meet agreed standards and procedures and to reduce eventual downtime of plants.
  • Tackle inspection related problems during plant emergencies.
  • Undertake failure analysis and corrosion study.
  • Provide assistance in other inspection related activities such as instrument procurement, technical bid evaluation of purchase requests/tenders, technical queries.
  • Supervise and coordinate multiple contractor staff during plant shutdowns/Turnarounds ranging from highly specialized contractors to regular NDT technicians to complete the planned work within the scheduled time and meeting the quality.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or possibly Metallurgy.
  • Required with valid certifications in API 510, API 570, API 653.
  • Preferred with certification in API 571, API 580, CSWIP Senior Welding Inspector.
  • Required: 5 – 7 years experience in Petrochemical Plants as direct hire employee.
  • Preferred: Similar experience in Methanol, or Ammonia or MTBE Plants
  • Experience in inspection of Reformers / Heaters including thermography.
  • Experience in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and fabrication of piping/pressure vessels/Heat Exchangers.
  • Should be familiar with QA/QC inspection standards and procedures.
  • Familiar with all conventional methods of NDE like RT, MT, PT, UT and ET and hold a certificate of competency of level II of ASNT or equivalent.in PT / MT / UT.
  • Knowledge of ASME Section I / II / V / VIII / IX, TEMA, API, and ASTM codes and standards as a minimum.
  • Ability to make detailed inspection reports.
