Introduction

Brunel has been engaged to support the search for an experienced HSE Manager to join a well-established global energy services organisation supporting offshore operations in the Bass Strait.

Operating in the region for more than 40 years, the organisation is a key contractor supporting critical offshore energy infrastructure and maintains long-standing partnerships with major operators in the basin. With a strong pipeline of contracted work already secured for the coming decade, the business continues to play a vital role in delivering safe and reliable offshore operations.

This position represents a senior leadership opportunity responsible for overseeing the company's HSE strategy, governance framework and regulatory compliance across offshore and onshore operations.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the role requires a confident safety professional capable of operating independently while influencing stakeholders across operations, engineering, executive leadership and key client representatives.

What are you going to do 

  • Lead the development and execution of the organisation's HSE strategy and governance framework
  • Maintain and continuously improve the HSE Management System aligned to ISO standards
  • Ensure compliance with Australian regulatory frameworks including NOPSEMA and WorkSafe
  • Act as the primary interface with client HSE leadership teams
  • Lead incident investigation, reporting and corrective action processes
  • Support operational teams with risk management and safety leadership initiatives
  • Represent the organisation during client audits, regulatory engagement and safety reviews
  • Provide leadership and guidance to offshore safety personnel and operational teams

Essential skills and knowledge

To succeed in this role you will be an experienced HSE professional who is comfortable operating within a high‑expectation offshore environment. You will bring:

  • Demonstrated HSE leadership experience within oil & gas, offshore energy or hazardous industries
  • Strong understanding of Australian offshore regulatory frameworks including NOPSEMA
  • Experience managing and improving HSE Management Systems and governance structures
  • Proven ability to engage with Tier‑1 operators, regulators and senior leadership teams
  • Strong expertise in incident investigation, risk management and safety governance

This role will suit a credible, approachable safety leader who can influence stakeholders, build strong working relationships and maintain high safety standards across the organisation.
