Introduction

Brunel has been engaged to recruit an experienced HSE Coordinator for a growing gold mining company with operations across Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Based at a mining operation in the Pilbara, this is a site-based position working an 8 days on, 6 days off roster. The role will suit an experienced emergency response and safety professional who can provide practical, visible HSE leadership across site operations.

What are you going to do 

The successful HSE Coordinator will support the implementation of site safety systems while coordinating emergency response capability, preparedness and training. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity; however, an experienced contractor who is available immediately may also be considered as an interim solution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain the site's emergency response capability and readiness
  • Support, mentor and develop the site Emergency Response Team
  • Plan and facilitate emergency response exercises, drills and training
  • Maintain emergency response equipment, procedures and documentation
  • Provide practical safety advice and support to operational teams
  • Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE systems
  • Monitor compliance with company procedures and applicable legislative requirements
  • Support site leaders in identifying and managing operational HSE risks
  • Promote a positive, proactive and visible safety culture across the operation
  • Prepare HSE reports and maintain accurate safety and emergency response records
  • Participate in audits, emergency simulations and continuous improvement initiatives

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Strong emergency response experience
  • Experience as a Safety Advisor, Safety Supervisor or HSE Coordinator
  • Previous experience within mining, resources or another heavy industrial environment
  • Underground mining experience is highly regarded but not essential
  • A current Closed-Circuit Breathing Apparatus qualification, or a willingness to complete the required training
  • Strong knowledge of emergency management, incident response and site safety practices
  • The ability to engage confidently with employees, contractors and site leadership
  • Strong communication, training and coaching skills
  • A practical and solutions-focused approach to safety
  • Relevant emergency response, safety or occupational health and safety qualifications
  • A current Australian driver's licence
  • Full Australian working rights
