Introduction

Brunel is currently searching for a Mine General Manager for our mining client located in Arizona. This is a full-time, site-based position for a large open-pit copper mine focused on heap leach and SX/EW production.

What are you going to do 

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Foster a safe, efficient workplace that promotes operational excellence and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Deliver production and financial results aligned with established objectives while ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.
  • Lead and coordinate operational activities to support safety and environmental compliance, plant reliability, and operational efficiency in accordance with applicable contracts, policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement annual budgets and life-of-mine financial plans.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, along with industry environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.

Essential skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Degree or formal qualifications in Mining Engineering, Geology, Metallurgy, or a related discipline.
  • More than 10 years of mining industry experience, with preference given to candidates with mine engineering or mineral processing expertise.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing mining and/or processing operations.
  • Proven ability to lead, engage, and motivate employees across diverse cultural backgrounds and varying education levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, supported by an outstanding safety performance record.
  • Strong business acumen with practical operational and financial management experience.
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, and management reporting capabilities.
  • This role is designated as "Safety Sensitive" under the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act and Arizona drug testing regulations**.

** All positions at the mine are classified as safety sensitive. Employees are prohibited from entering or remaining on site while under the influence, or potentially under the influence, of controlled substances that could impair their ability to safely and effectively perform their job responsibilities.
