Introduction

Brunel is looking to recruit a Financial Systems Analyst with relevent experience gained working on Oil and Gas Projects. This long term, ongoing contract position (12 months - renewable) is to work for a major Operator and you will be based in Algeria, working on a 28/28 rotational basis.

What are you going to do 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and monitor GB's current core business environment that includes ORACLE eBS, ORACLE Discoverer and ORACLE Essbase while maintaining familiarity with the associated supply chain interface (BAIM) systems until GB goes live on SAP which is expected to be in Q£ 2026.
  • Manage master data for WBS elements, cost centers (CC), GL accounts, and hierarchies, including creation, updates, and validation to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Handle cost allocations, settlements and periodic postings in SAP CO, supporting finance teams with payment runs, AP, and manual postings.
  • Provide general support for all finance users: resolve tickets for GL, projects, banking, user access; perform daily system checks; troubleshoot issues in FI/CO modules.
  • Test system enhancements, upgrades, and configurations; document processes; deliver user training and maintain guides for SAP Fiori or Analytics Cloud tools.
  • Monitor aforementioned systems performance and respond to all hardware and software incidents - clarify any technical issues and resolve problems either first hand or by coordinating other resources as necessary.
  • Project manage data migration and finance coordination of SAP Project and associated future upgrades
  • Work closely with GB ITT on all matters related to GB's financial systems
  • Maintain clear documentation to provide knowledge for all team members and business areas.
  • Communication skills - Prepare written and verbal presentations and reports. Provide management with timely and accurate status reports. Keep customer base informed of changes and issues with the Finance IT environment. Work with GB ITT to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Conduct formal and informal end-user training on use of Financial applications.
  • Mediate problems, process breakdowns and hand-offs

Essential skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance & Accounting preferred but candidates with degree level education in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or closely aligned disciplines may be considered.
  • SAP and Oracle certifications and/or Project Management qualification would be an advantage
  • Possess relevant oil and gas (or an industry with similar Finance arrangements such as Mining) business knowledge and IT work experience in business analysis, troubleshooting ITS and financial reporting related issues.
  • Strong Knowledge of business information systems, databases, and enterprise reporting systems.
  • At least 5 years' experience supporting enterprise business information system(s), system databases, and providing financial reports.
  • Expertise in SAP FI/CO and BPC modules, including master data governance for Work Breakdown Structure "WBS" / Cost Centers "CC" /accounts and allocation rules; experience with S/4HANA preferred.
  • High level understanding of SAP Joint Venture Accounting (JVA) concepts, processes and master data configuration.
  • Finance background (accounting operations) with strong analytical skills for issue resolution, data reconciliation, and compliance (e.g., audits, controls).
  • Soft skills: collaborative stakeholder management, user training, and process improvement
