Introduction

Our client is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to safely execute maintenance and commissioning activities on plant and equipment in line with SAP processes, work instructions, and supervisor direction. The role supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reduce costs, and maximise production efficiency.

What are you going to do 

Key Requirements

  • Safely isolate plant and equipment in accordance with Permit to Work (PTW) requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with SAP work execution processes, including accurate capture of transactional data where required.
  • Ensure appropriate scoping of corrective work to support effective planning and execution.
  • Adhere to all relevant electrical and gas regulations, standards, and site procedures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents, hazards, and near misses, and actively participate in investigations and workplace observations.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across plant, equipment, stores, and tools.
  • Participate in commissioning activities in a rotational shift capacity.
  • Execute tasks within defined competencies and skill levels.
  • Promote efficient use of resources to minimise operating costs, including consumables and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Support planning and preparation activities as required.
  • Actively participate in the SuccessFactors performance process and work towards achieving KPI targets.
  • Contribute to individual and team objectives aligned with broader business goals.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and operational crews.
  • Perform additional duties as required to meet business needs within competency levels.

SCOPE OF WORK

The commissioning scope commences following construction verification and progresses through the following phases:

  • Functional Testing
  • No-Load Commissioning
  • Load Commissioning
  • Performance Verification and Ramp-Up

Essential skills and knowledge

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Electrical Workers Licence (Fitter/Mechanic)
  • Electrical and/or Instrumentation Trade Certificate
  • High Voltage Switching Operations qualification
  • High Risk Work Licence (EWP)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in heavy industry or refinery/process plant environment
  • Medium Voltage Switchgear (Schneider, ABB
  • Low Voltage MCCs (Schneider, Terasaki, NHP, Allen Bradley)
  • Variable Speed Drives (Allen Bradley PowerFlex 753)
  • Process Control Systems (ControlLogix, Flex I/O)
  • Instrumentation (Endress+Hauser, Krohne, Samson - 4-20mA HART systems)

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Supervised Gas Fitter qualification
  • Hazardous Area certification
  • Working at Heights certification
  • High Risk Work Licence (EWP - if not already held under essential requirements depending on interpretation)
  • High Voltage Switching Operations certification (additional or advanced level)
