Introduction

Brunel is working with a respected WA-based water treatment solutions provider to recruit a Fabrication Technician based in Malaga.

This is a hands-on workshop-based role focused on the fabrication and assembly of wastewater treatment plants and specialist water treatment systems for a range of customer projects. You will work closely with the Mechanical Lead, Fabrication Technicians and Electrical Technicians to deliver high-quality plant builds, ensuring minimal issues during Factory Acceptance Testing and site installation.

What are you going to do 

The role will suit someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and has experience across fabrication, mechanical fitting, plumbing, plant assembly or similar technical environments. Previous exposure to wastewater treatment plants, water infrastructure, pumps, pipework, plumbing systems or process equipment would be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble wastewater treatment plants and water treatment systems to a high-quality standard
  • Read and interpret schematic diagrams, drawings and plant documentation
  • Install pipework, plumbing systems, instrumentation and associated plant components
  • Work closely with electrical and fabrication teams to troubleshoot issues during builds
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing and present professionally when clients attend inspections
  • Maintain equipment, workshop consumables and replacement parts
  • Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, quality and safety
  • Support and mentor team members where required
  • Travel to site for installs, service work or plant operation coverage when required

Essential skills and knowledge

You will be a practical, reliable and safety-focused technician who takes pride in producing quality work. You will be comfortable working in a workshop environment, solving problems as they arise and supporting the wider team to meet project deadlines.

You may come from a background in fabrication, mechanical fitting, plumbing, poly welding, plant assembly, water treatment, wastewater treatment, utilities, process equipment or similar hands-on technical environments.

Experience working on wastewater treatment plants, water treatment packages, pumps, pipework, tanks, skids, plumbing systems or industrial plant builds would be particularly valuable.

Skills & Experience

  • Mechanical fitting, plumbing or similar trade background preferred
  • Experience in fabrication, assembly, plant builds or workshop-based technical work
  • Exposure to wastewater treatment plants, water treatment systems or process equipment highly regarded
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics and technical information
  • Strong commitment to HSEQ, quality and safe working practices
  • Forklift licence, rigging/dogging certificate or poly welding ticket highly regarded
  • Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure and adapt to changing priorities

What we offer 

  • Monday to Friday, 8-hour days
  • Some travel required across WA
  • Time in lieu for hours worked above 10 hours per day
  • Time in lieu for all weekend hours worked
  • Travel uplifts applicable after 3 nights away
