Introduction

Brunel is currently seeking an experienced EHS Advisor to support operations at a key facility in Sundre, Alberta. This role will play a critical part in maintaining a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards across all site activities.

What are you going to do 

  • Provide day-to-day EHS support to operations and field teams
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial (Alberta OHS), and company safety requirements
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Support WCB claims management and return-to-work programs
  • Deliver safety orientations, training sessions, and toolbox talks
  • Maintain and update EHS documentation, procedures, and reporting systems
  • Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators and report on performance
  • Participate in risk assessments including JHAs, FLRAs, and HAZIDs
  • Support emergency response planning, drills, and site readiness
  • Engage with workers and supervisors to reinforce safe work practices and behaviors
  • Own and manage the site-level Health & Safety Management System (HSM)
  • Oversee and maintain the Emergency Response Program (ERP)

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 3-7+ years of EHS experience within midstream, oil & gas, or industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation and industry standards
  • Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with WCB processes and claims management
  • Professional designation such as CRSP or NCSO is considered an asset
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to site locations
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to promote a safety-first mindset
  • Proven organizational and reporting capability, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in both field and office environments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Coaching mindset with the ability to engage and influence teams on safe work practices
