Introduction

Brunel International is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our team on a FIFO basis to Papua New Guinea. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and manage critical construction activities within a major process plant project. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all construction aspects related to the Processing Plant scope, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget

What are you going to do 

As the Construction Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of Stage 1 and Stage 2 works at a process plant site. Your responsibilities will include planning, coordinating, and supervising the construction activities related to the Processing Plant scope. This includes managing Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping (SMP), and Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) contractors during Stage 1 works such as new ball mill conveyors and a new crusher installation.

You will also be responsible for Stage 2 construction activities involving a new flotation plant and concentrate handling facilities, including a concentrate storage shed and shiploader. Leading an owner's team, you will manage site commercial and planning personnel, discipline superintendents, logistics, administration, and safety staff to ensure seamless project execution.

Key duties include:

  • Developing and implementing construction plans and schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager and planners
  • Supervising Civil, SMP, and E&I contractors to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and project specifications
  • Leading and coordinating the owner's site team to optimise resources and workflow
  • Managing logistics and supply chain to support construction activities effectively
  • Ensuring adherence to all safety and environmental regulations on site
  • Monitoring project progress and reporting regularly to senior management
  • Resolving any construction-related issues or conflicts promptly to avoid delays

Essential skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager within process plant projects, ideally in mining or heavy industrial sectors
  • Strong knowledge of Civil, SMP, and E&I construction disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contractors and a multidisciplinary owner's team
  • Experience with flotation plants, ball mill conveyors, crushers, and concentrate handling infrastructure is highly desirable
  • FIFO experience to Papua New Guinea or similar remote locations is essential
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results within tight deadlines
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Relevant qualifications in construction management, engineering, or related fields
