Introduction

Brunel International is seeking an experienced Construction Manager specialising in earthworks, civil, and NPI works for a FIFO opportunity to Papua New Guinea. This is a key role reporting directly to the Project Manager, responsible for overseeing all construction activities within the Civil Construction scope on a major resource project. We are after a hands-on leader with proven expertise in managing complex earthworks and civil construction projects.

What are you going to do 

As Construction Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all construction activities related to the civil scope. Your duties will include overseeing the contractor's performance in quarry operations, haul roads, waste dumps and drainage systems, sediment ponds, and bulk earthworks in the plant area. You will also manage process plant civil and concrete works, including the construction of a new wharf.

You will lead an owner's team comprising superintendents, supervisors, and engineers, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a FIFO environment in Papua New Guinea.

Essential skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager within earthworks, civil, and NPI works, preferably in mining or resource projects
  • Strong knowledge of quarry operations, haul road construction, waste dump and drainage systems, sediment pond construction, and bulk earthworks
  • Experience managing process plant civil and concrete works including wharf construction
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams including superintendents, supervisors, and engineers
  • FIFO availability for Papua New Guinea with a flexible and resilient approach to remote site conditions
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills
  • Sound understanding of Australian and PNG construction standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline highly regarded
