Introduction

This is a rare opportunity to join a global technology leader as it expands its mining and critical minerals business in Australia.

Traditionally recognised for its technical capability across energy and oilfield services, the business is now applying its proven subsurface, drilling, digital and resource evaluation technologies into hard rock mining.

This role will suit a technically credible mining professional who can open doors, build relationships and help mining clients understand how advanced technology can create value across exploration, geology, hydrogeology, resource definition and critical minerals development.

This is not a transactional sales role. It is a strategic, technical and market-facing position with genuine scope to help shape a growing mining business in Australia.

What are you going to do

As Business Development Manager - Mining, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and converting new opportunities across the mining sector.

You will work closely with global and regional technical, commercial and leadership teams to understand the market, develop a regional sales strategy and position the company's technology offering with the right clients.

Your focus will include mining operators, exploration companies, technical teams, consultants and industry partners across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a targeted business development strategy for mining
  • Build relationships with mining operators, exploration companies and technical decision-makers
  • Identify opportunities across geology, hydrogeology, exploration, drilling, resource evaluation and critical minerals
  • Position advanced technology, software and technical solutions into the mining market
  • Work with internal technical specialists to shape value-led client solutions
  • Open new client relationships and grow strategic accounts
  • Support commercial discussions, proposals and tender activity
  • Represent the business in the market and help build its mining brand in Australia

Essential skills and knowledge

You will be a technically credible mining professional with a strong foundation in geology, hydrogeology, exploration, resource evaluation, geoscience, mining engineering, mining technology or a closely related discipline.

You may have started your career in a technical mining environment before moving into business development, technical sales, consulting or commercial growth. Alternatively, you may already be working in a mining technology, software, drilling, exploration, geoscience, hydrogeology or consulting business where you are regularly engaging with clients and identifying commercial opportunities.

You do not need to be a subject matter expert across every product or technology. However, you will need the technical curiosity and credibility to learn complex solutions quickly, understand client challenges and identify where technology can create value.

The ideal person will be comfortable engaging with geologists, hydrogeologists, exploration managers, technical leaders, consultants and senior commercial stakeholders. You will enjoy opening doors, shaping opportunities and building trusted relationships across the mining sector.

Skills & Experience

  • A strong background across mining, exploration, geoscience, hydrogeology, mining engineering or mining technology
  • Demonstrated success in business development, technical sales, consulting, commercial growth or strategic account development
  • Strong relationships across mining operators, exploration companies, consultants or technology providers
  • Credibility with technical, operational and senior commercial stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify, qualify and convert opportunities
  • Confidence working with regional and global stakeholders
  • The ability to build a market, not simply manage existing accounts
  • A degree in a relevant technical, engineering or business discipline would be highly regarded
  • An MBA would be advantageous but is not essential

What we offer

  • Senior remuneration package
  • Variable annual bonus opportunity up to 30%
  • Global technology business with strong career pathways
