Introduction

Brunel has multiple direct hire opportunities for Process Mechanics (level 3 -6) with our mining client located an hour North of Santa Clarita, California.

What are you going to do 

As the Crusher Mechanic, you would be relied upon to troubleshoot/perform any repairs needed, and

to lead the team through accomplishing safety/production targets. These positions report to the Crusher

Maintenance Supervisor and the Crusher Maintenance General Foreman. This is a safety

sensitive position. The right candidate will have experience with crushers (Jaw, Cone, and HPGR), conveyor systems, belt alignments, compressor builds/rebuilds, pump/motor installs and excel at troubleshooting processing systems.

These positions will be on a rotating schedule - similar to a Dupont schedule.

Duties:

  • Perform emergency repair on a conveyor belt using the mechanical splice method.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and correct deficiencies of the jaw crusher.
  • Determine proper gaps based on operating conditions and determine proper wear and condition of dies.
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all belts (i.e. conveyor belts, stacker belts, overland belts).
  • Troubleshoot and repair jaw hydraulic system.
  • Verify the manual A dimension and closed size setting on the cone crushers
  • Take scheduled measurements on the HPGR.
  • Troubleshoot conveyor systems as to proper adjustments for tracking, scrapper.
  • Determine roller replacement needs and repair as necessary.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor and major maintenance repairs.
  • Perform repairs of pumps, gearboxes, and related equipment.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and share value adding suggestions that maximize team performance.
  • Complete repairs efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Complete work orders with proper documentation.
  • Follow all company Safety/Environmental Procedures and Rules mandated by MSHA.
  • Work closely with Process in achieving equipment reliability.
  • Perform major component change-outs and rebuilds.
  • Maintain records of repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain positive communication with the Maintenance and Operations Departments.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment at all times.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • 3 or more years of experience in maintenance of jaw, cone, and roller crushers, conveyors, conveyor belts, and gearbox systems.
  • Knowledge of various crushing systems, including jaw crushers, cone crushers and roller crushers (HPGR). using best practices while complying to all company safety policies.
  • Advanced welding knowledge of structural, pipe welding, and fabrication to be able to complete repairs throughout the facility.
  • Able to align equipment drive shafts using the "dial indictor method" or a laser alignment tool.
  • Able to install v-belt style drive belts, set proper tension and alignment.
  • Able to troubleshoot vertical and horizontal pumps, replace mechanical seals, and rebuild pumps.
  • Able to install different style bearings, double spherical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings, needle roller bearings, etc.
  • Able to troubleshoot equipment at our Merrill Crowe facility (i.e. blowers, vacuum pumps, furnaces, pumps).
  • Able to troubleshoot and repair stacker conveyor track drives (i.e. replacing rollers, euro-drives and final drives).
  • Understand the operating flow of the facility for troubleshooting and/or repairing equipment or assisting production as needed.
  • Understand lubrication (i.e. greases and oils), their properties, and proper applications.
  • Have own tools (Journeyman level) that meet the requirements of the department tool list.
