Introduction

We are seeking experienced Water Well Drillers to join a permanent FIFO team supporting major Pilbara mining operations. You'll operate water well drilling equipment across established sites, working within a strong safety culture and alongside experienced drilling crews. What are you going to do 

  • Operate water well drill rigs and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct drilling activities for production, monitoring and water well bores.
  • Complete daily pre-start inspections and ensure drilling equipment is maintained to a high standard.
  • Assist with routine maintenance, servicing and troubleshooting of drill rigs and auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitor drilling performance, consumables and metres drilled to support production targets.
  • Complete required drilling reports, safety documentation, permits and site records.
  • Follow all site safety procedures, environmental requirements and safe work practices.
  • Work closely with site supervisors, hydrogeologists, client representatives and other contractors.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and hazard-free work area.
  • Support rig mobilisation, demobilisation and movement between drill pads.
  • Lead and mentor Driller Assistants, sharing knowledge and maintaining strong crew performance.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, pre-starts and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and report hazards, equipment issues and changes to scope of work.
  • Ensure all drilling activities are completed in accordance with company and client standards.

Multiple roster options are available, including:

  • 8:6
  • 2:2
  • 2:1

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Previous experience working as a Water Well Driller is essential.
  • Previous experience within the mining industry is highly regarded.
  • FMG/Fortescue experience is highly desirable.
  • Current Water Well Licence - Class 1.
  • Current HR or HR-B Driver's Licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate and maintain water well drilling equipment.
  • Ability to lead or work effectively within a drilling crew.
  • Strong understanding of mining site safety requirements.
  • Ability to complete pre-starts, safety documentation and drilling reports.
  • National Police Clearance.
  • Ability to successfully complete a comprehensive pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Full Australian working rights.
  • Certificate III in Drilling Operations.
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Additional high-risk work licences and relevant plant tickets.
