Brunel has partnered with a leading Australian resources business on a contract opportunity for a Software Developer to join an established in-house development team.This role suits a strong developer with a Python, AWS and TypeScript background, ideally working across data-intensive cloud applications.

What are you going to do 

Join an established development team building custom cloud applications that support integrated energy balance modelling, geospatial asset tracking, forecasting and data analysis. You will design and implement new applications across the full software development lifecycle, build logic and end-user functionality, and help shape ways of working and engineering best practice.

  • Implement full stack technical solutions for new custom software requirements
  • Help set frameworks, design principles and ways of working across the development team
  • Follow quality and testing processes to ensure robust, long-lived solutions
  • Produce design decisions, technical specifications, release notes and support handover documentation
  • Break user stories into technical tasks with effort estimation
  • Deliver against the backlog through the agile SDLC
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, BEng in SoftwareEngineering or similar
  • Extensive experience writing and designing custom software solutions
  • Strong Python, SQL and TypeScript skills, with broader experience across JavaScript, CSS, HTML and other object-oriented languages such as C# or Java
  • Front-end experience with Angular, React or other modern SPA frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience deploying cloud-native solutions on AWS (Lambda, RDS, ECS), with working knowledge of relational databases including AWS RDS and PostgreSQL
  • Experience applying service-oriented architecture principles to large-scale, data-intensive software solutions
  • Experience delivering in agile sprints with SCRUM and daily standups, following and coaching SDLC best practice (CI/CD, DevOps, testing, IaC)
  • Hands-on experience running CI/CD pipelines through GitHub with git version control
  • Practical experience with Docker, Terraform and JIRA
  • Strong understanding of security best practice

Desirable

  • AWS Cloud certifications, Associate and Professional
  • Snowflake or TimescaleDB experience
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning or optimisation
  • Energy or mining industry experience
