Introduction

We are hiring a Senior Shops Technician for a leading petrochemical company in Qatar. The role involves valve and PSV/PRV overhauling, testing, pressure testing, workshop maintenance, and fabrication work to support safe and reliable plant operations. Candidates with experience in Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG, or Oil & Gas industries are encouraged to apply.

What are you going to do 

  • Perform overhauling, inspection, testing, calibration, and repair of PRVs, PSVs, and other industrial valves.
  • Carry out hydrostatic, pneumatic, and pressure testing in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support fabrication, welding, and workshop maintenance activities.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and workshop tools.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and engineering drawings.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance, shutdown, and turnaround activities.
  • Ensure proper use of spare parts, tools, and testing equipment.
  • Maintain records of valve testing, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  • Use SAP PM to receive, update, and complete maintenance work orders.
  • Follow Permit to Work (PTW), HSE procedures, and company safety standards at all times.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions in the workshop.
  • Support supervisors in daily workshop operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with maintenance, production, reliability, QA/QC, and technical teams to ensure safe and reliable plant operation.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG, Chemical, or Oil & Gas plants.
  • Hands-on experience in PSV/PRV and industrial valve overhauling, testing, and maintenance.
  • Experience in hydrostatic, pneumatic, and pressure testing.
  • Good knowledge of workshop maintenance, fabrication, and mechanical repair activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience supporting plant shutdowns and turnaround activities.
  • Working knowledge of SAP PM is preferred.
  • Good understanding of HSE standards and Permit to Work (PTW) procedures.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
