Senior Project Engineer

Position Title: Senior Project Engineer

Position Summary

Our client is developing a major energy infrastructure project and is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the execution of large-scale engineering, fabrication, and construction activities from detailed engineering through module fabrication and delivery.

Reporting to the Director - Delivery, the Senior Project Engineer will initially be based in Paris, working closely with the EPC contractor and project team during the detailed engineering and design phase. Subsequently, the role will transition to a module fabrication yard in Asia, with periodic travel to other project locations as required.

The Senior Project Engineer will serve as a key technical and project coordination lead within the Owner's Team, ensuring alignment between engineering, fabrication, construction, quality, and project services functions.

Key Responsibilities Engineering & Design Phase (Paris)

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to

  • Participate in key project milestone activities, including
  • Project kick-off meetings
  • Model reviews at various stages of engineering development
  • Constructability reviews for module fabrication scope
  • Support the Director - Delivery in managing and coordinating reviews of critical engineering and project documentation
  • Review engineering deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, constructability, completeness, and alignment with project specifications and fabrication sequencing requirements
  • Verify that Issued for Construction (IFC) documentation is complete and suitable for fabrication activities
  • Coordinate marine warranty survey and cargo insurance activities with project stakeholders, insurers, legal representatives, and corporate teams
  • Provide support and deputize for the Director - Delivery during periods of travel or leave

Module Fabrication Phase (China)

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to

  • Act as the primary interface between the Owner's engineering teams and module fabrication team
  • Coordinate engineering queries, management of change processes, change orders, and multidisciplinary interface
  • Support management of local service agreements and project staffing contracts related to fabrication activities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with fabrication yard management teams and key stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of project issues
  • Provide functional leadership to site engineering and project services personnel within a matrix reporting structure
  • Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, construction, and quality teams to resolve technical and execution-related challenges
  • Lead the preparation and consolidation of weekly and monthly fabrication progress reports for project management and stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary interface between the Owner's Team and EPC contractor regarding module completion activities, including Inspection Test Records (ITRs) Mechanical completion activities Walkdowns Punch list management and closeout
  • Act on behalf of the Director - Delivery during periods of travel, leave, or absence

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

Willingness to undertake international assignments, initially in Europe and subsequently in Asia.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours during fabrication execution phases to support global project teams and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and plant systems throughout engineering, construction, completion, commissioning, and start-up phases.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of module fabrication, construction sequencing, and project execution methodologies.
  • Strong awareness of safety leadership and hazard management in industrial environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to prepare high-quality project reports and presentations for senior management, investors, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management, coordination, and problem-solving capabilities in multicultural and geographically dispersed project environments.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities.

Essential skills and knowledge

Qualifications Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, or a related discipline).

Experience

Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering, construction, operations, or project delivery within industrial sectors such as LNG, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, or Energy Infrastructure.

Minimum 5 years of experience supporting module fabrication projects in Asia.

Experience working within an Owner's Team environment is highly desirable.

Experience supporting engineering and procurement phases of major capital projects is considered advantageous.
