Introduction

Brunel Papua New Guinea are seeking a Senior Electrical/ Instrumentation Engineer. This is a FIFO role based at a significant gold mine in PNG. This is a 3 month contract with extension opportunity with FIFO benefits. Offering a competitive salary - 22 days on 20 days off roster with 12-hour work days. Commencement date is as soon as possible.

What are you going to do 

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Oversee electrical compliance, statutory/regulatory matters, site standards and policies
  • Own/development of Electrical/Instrumentation standards
  • Develop and carry out E&I Asset Inspections and Compliance audits
  • Lead, support and take ownership of E&I incident investigations
  • Providing clarity and leadership on E&I safety and statutory/regulatory compliance
  • Ongoing first party auditing on all matters regarding electrical/instrumentation compliance
  • Actively engaging with electrical contractors to ensure that the desired level of workmanship and adherence to standards is achieved
  • Ownership of site initiatives to improve E&I safety and legislative compliance
  • Assisting Projects with Management of Change requirements
  • Assist with the development of Functional Safety standards and philosophy

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Tertiary qualified Bachelor in Electrical/ Instrumental Engineering
  • 5+ years relevant work experience essential
  • Work towards becoming registered Mine Electrician
  • High Voltage switching accreditation desirable
  • Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar desirable
  • Provide engineering support in the identification and rectification of E&I issues, to improve plant reliability
  • Provide technical support and mentoring when required for graduate engineers on site
  • Lead and participate in Risk reviews/ be familiar with Risk Assessment techniques
