Introduction

Brunel is seeking a Senior Contract Manager to support large-scale renewable energy projects. The role will initially focus on contract formation for utility-scale solar and wind projects ranging from 300 MW to 500 MW, including bid evaluation, recommendation for award, commercial negotiations, and contract execution. As projects progress, the role will transition into post-award contract management and commercial support.

What are you going to do

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development, negotiation, and execution of EPC agreements, equipment supply agreements, and other major contracts for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Support RFP preparation, commercial bid analysis and evaluation, contractor selection, and recommendations for award.
  • Develop and support contracting strategies and contracting plans in coordination with preconstruction and project teams.
  • Identify contractual and commercial terms that may create risk or additional value and support the development of appropriate negotiation strategies.
  • Lead and support commercial negotiations with EPC contractors, suppliers, and other project counterparties.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Preconstruction, Engineering, Project Management, Project Controls, Procurement, Technical, Finance, and other internal stakeholders throughout the contracting process.
  • Ensure consistency of contractual requirements, commercial positions, and contracting practices across projects and agreements.
  • Monitor post-award contract compliance and ensure contractual obligations are properly implemented and tracked.
  • Provide commercial and contractual guidance to project teams regarding contract terms, owner obligations, commercial risk, claims avoidance, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage and support contract changes, change orders, formal notices, claims, and contractor correspondence.
  • Identify and anticipate potential contractor claims during project execution and support project teams in developing appropriate contractual and commercial responses.
  • Support the development and improvement of contract management processes, procedures, templates, reporting tools, risk tracking, and lessons learned.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to contracts team members and support a collaborative working environment.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • 10+ years of contracts management experience in large-scale construction, energy, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with EPC, construction, procurement, and equipment supply contracts.
  • Strong pre-award experience, including RFPs, bid evaluation, contractor selection, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Experience with contract compliance, change orders, claims, and commercial risk.
  • Renewable energy experience, particularly utility-scale solar or wind, preferred.
  • Strong contract interpretation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
