What are you going to do 

  • Provides support to the Lead Calculation Engineer by performing structural analysis and preparing Calculation Notes compliant with relevant industry standards. Develops, mentors and guides the junior team members and manages workload in accordance with the Engineering Department priorities;
  • Manages the third-party contractors’ deliverables and ensures projects are completed in line with the Client inputs;
  • Perform structural analysis of steel structures;
  • Detailed design of steel connections (welded/bolted) by analytical methods / hand calculations;
  • Perform lifting analysis of skids, modules and equipment;
  • Lead teams of Jr. engineers into the successful completion of projects and objectives;
  • Write technical reports and calculation notes in technical English as per the requirements of Classification Societies Rules and Regulations;
  • Review, check, and verify structural drawings, and supporting documentation rated to the project in accordance with Client requirements;
  • Assist the project engineers during the preliminary studies, procurement, and installation phases;
  • Manage third party personnel by monitoring the workload and verifying deliverables;
  • Coach and mentor junior members of the team;
  • Awareness regarding: The organization’s quality, environmental, or health and safety policies. Job Specific procedures, instructions and formats. Relevant quality, environmental, or health and safety objectives;

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience structural design for the Offshore O&G Structures;
  • Engineering Master’s degree (Civil/Structural/Naval engineer) or other related disciplines;
  • Advanced user of STAAD PRO – Mandatory;
  • Well versed in detailed design of steel connections with Mathcad / Excel – Mandatory;
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software such as ANSYS, FEMAP or equivalent is a major plus;
  • Good understanding of industry related standards (e.g. AISC, API, ASME) and Class Rules (e.g. ABS, DNV, Norsok);
  • Technical knowledge of steel fabrication and steel material selection as per relevant Codes;
  • Experience with High Pressure Piping (HP) Design (5k/10k/15k psi) is a major plus;
  • Knowledge of Caesar 2 piping software is a major plus;
  • Knowledge of any programming language / macros is a plus;
  • Previous exposure with Mobile Offshore Units upgrade projects is a major plus;
  • Knowledge of plant / process design for drilling facilities is a plus;
  • Understanding of ship building drawings is a plus;
  • Experience on the design of equipment, in particular drilling equipment, is a plus.
