Introduction

Brunel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join a leading technology organization in Calgary, Alberta. As a Quality Engineer, you'll be a key part of the Quality team, using your advanced problem-solving abilities and attention to detail to maintain the highest product quality and customer satisfaction. In this role, you will troubleshoot product failures, lead root cause investigations, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective corrective and preventative actions.

Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will leverage your hands-on testing expertise to analyze complex electro-mechanical systems, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the organization's ongoing innovation and growth efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot Product Failures
  • Write and execute test plans to find the root cause of failures 
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders on corrective and preventative actions 
  • Provide NCR and 8D documentation for the failure analysis 
  • Provide customers with technical updates on the failure analysis 
  • Design test fixtures and software solutions to expedite execution of testing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Product Validation, or a related technical role.
  • Experience investigating product, manufacturing, or field-related quality issues and driving corrective and preventative actions.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills, with experience using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, or FMEA.
  • Hands-on experience testing, troubleshooting, and evaluating electro-mechanical assemblies, components, or systems.
  • Familiarity with laboratory and diagnostic equipment, including DAQs, oscilloscopes, multimeters, sensors, actuators, or similar test equipment.
  • Comfortable performing hands-on mechanical assembly, disassembly, inspection, and failure analysis activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and inspection or test procedures.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, including machining, fabrication, molding, welding, or other industrial production methods.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, documenting investigation findings, and communicating results to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting NCR, CAPA, or continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
