What are you going to do 

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a major industrial project in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Build Project Manager and site delivery team on a significant capital project within a live operating facility.

The role will be responsible for coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality, schedule and cost outcomes.

  • Support the delivery of a major meal storage warehouse and other capital projects across the Newcastle site.
  • Coordinate engineering, design reviews, RFIs, technical queries and contractor interfaces.
  • Support procurement, technical evaluations, contractor clarifications and change management.
  • Coordinate construction planning, contractor activities, site access and work fronts.
  • Track project risks, issues, schedule, costs, changes and corrective actions.
  • Support commissioning, operational readiness, handover, punch lists and project close-out.
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, EHS, quality, procurement, contractors and consultants.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Process or related Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 years' project engineering experience within industrial processing, manufacturing, bulk materials handling, construction or similar environments.
  • Experience supporting brownfield capital projects and construction activities within operating facilities.
  • Strong understanding of engineering documentation, technical queries, construction planning and contractor coordination.
  • Experience with commissioning, handover and project close-out.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities across scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk and change.
  • Working knowledge of Australian Standards and construction requirements.
  • Experience with MS Project, Primavera, Excel, SharePoint, Teams or similar project systems is advantageous.
